Rover
Dramawerks announces
One Day Only 29
Call For Participants!
FRIDAY, March 23 AT 11:00 A.M!
Here!
But don't just JUMP there if you haven't read the instructions below. If you hit a bump and it's obviously answered here, we will have neither the time nor inclination to respond. M'kay?
It's built for speed.
Hold on tight and keep hands and feet inside the ride at all times.
One
Day Only was first produced in the metroplex in May of 2000 by Audacity Productions.
Rover Dramawerks teamed up with Audacity for the next three festivals, and Rover
went solo to present One Day Only 5 and every one since. All of these are
productions unlike anything ever done before, even by us! For this is an event
in which an entire one-act play festival of five plays is written, produced,
directed, rehearsed, teched, and performed in a single day. Just 24 short hours.
At
about 9:00 p.m. on Friday, April 6, a group of writers, directors, actors, and
technicians will get together for the first time.
AT ROVER'S THEATRE
221 W. Parker #580
A brief get-to-know you session
will include providing ideas for the writers (to be drawn out of a hat) and taking
pictures of the actors (no headshots and resumes are allowed). Then the writers
stay at the theatre and work through the night, composing a ten to fifteen minute
play based on the subject he/she drew.
At
6:30 a.m. (yes, THAT early!), the directors return. They will quickly read
the plays, decide who directs which play, and cast the plays from the pictures
taken the night before. The actors show up around 8:00 a.m. and meet with their
director and fellow cast members. The writers go home to get some sleep while
the plays are blocked, memorized, and rehearsed all day.
Then at 8:00 p.m., all of the
plays are presented for the first time at Rover Dramawerks in Plano. Thats
right five world premieres!
And
YOU can be a part!
Rover
Dramawerks is looking for a few good writers, directors, and actors for
One Day Only 29,
and we want YOU! Experience is not mandatory,
but
open-mindedness, spontaneity, guts,
and a can-do attitude are MUSTS.
IMPORTANT: YOU must take the initiative to sign up yourself.
We will not accept sign-ups from third parties.
There
are
5 writer positions,
5 director positions,
and about 30 actor positions.
That's
IT - all - fini - done
Again, this is first come, first served, so if youre
interested, be by your computer at
FRIDAY, MARCH 23 AT 11:00 A.M!
Writer and director positions especially fill up VERY
quickly
often within MINUTES! The cut-off for signing up is a week
before the event or as long as roles are available, whichever comes first.
(Writers/Directors - we have a "No Three In A Row" Rule.
You can write TWICE or direct TWICE in a row
but must skip a third or try something different.
It's a very popular thing to do and we have to be fair about it.
Actors - there's more slots so you can do it over and over....
)
NEW SIGNUP INFORMATION: If you’re interested, please apply online at http://roverdramawerks.com/onedayonly
STARTING ON FRIDAY, MARCH 23 AT 11:00 A.M.
Do not try to sign up via any other method used in the past, as it won’t be accepted – you MUST use the online form. The form will confirm that your data has been sent, and you will get an auto-response via email. Shortly thereafter, you will find out whether you are “in” or not.
Please note that you can only sign up for one role – Acting, Directing, or Writing – and you must specify which. DO NOT SEND THE FORM MORE THAN ONCE! The LAST role we get from you (not the first) will be the one you get if there is space in more than one area.
Minimum age requirement for any role is 18. This requirement is due to the level of intense commitment for such a taxing project, as it has proven too much for younger participants and their families in the past.
Remember that it’s all first come, first served, and writer and director positions especially fill up VERY quickly – usually within SECONDS! The cut-off for signing up is as long as roles are available, which is never long!
Also note that due to the lightening-fast nature of this project, there is no pay and no comps are provided. However, it is a TOTAL BLAST and well worth your time. You’ll also be amazed at the contacts you’ll make!
We look forward to working with you on this incredibly fun, unique project! For more information, check out www.roverdramawerks.com.
PLEASE NOTE: The performances on April 7 at 8:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. are OPEN TO THE PUBLIC! Tickets are only $12, so even if you are not interested in participating as an actor, writer, or director, we would love to see you in the audience that night!
ALSO NOTE: Audience members are not needed for 24 hours – you need to be there ONLY for the resulting performance at
8:00 p.m. & 10:00 p.m. on April 7
at Rover Dramawerks!
