So how do I KNOW that these 7
pieces are really brand new?
Can you prove you stayed up
all night writing these?
You guys all seem to know each other pretty well
so I bet really you were friends already?
I see short plays and stuff like this all the time,
rehearsed for months and running for weeks.
Why should I believe a bunch of theater types anyway?
And without the long-sought approval of an FDA / NEA "Artistic
Freshness Date" initiative, we are helpless to answer these
very valid questions in which a conscientious theater goer and
entertainment consumer deserves the utmost confidence.
Until now, there was no way to prove or disprove these outlandish
claims of "24 hour plays." But we here at Rover Dramawerks
Artistic Development Labs (RDADL) have worked feverishly to provide
a level of certification for new and experimental works. Through
aggressive and exhaustive testing, we have developed a reliable
method of customer protection agains "Stale Theater"
in a patented process of exposure and involvement. We call the
process CSFY, Come See For Yourself.
Beginning with One Day Only 9! we will allow a limited number
of patrons (20) to purchase tickets early and attend the historically
secretive and clandestine "Participant Gathering" to
observe the detailed and ritual-like process of participants'
first meeting.
From the bizarre protocol of "Rejecting Headshots"
at the door as actors' snapshots are taken "as is" upon
arriving to the theater to the almost tribal "Speedbonding"
where all participants do stupid things together in small
groups to slightly familiarize themselves, patrons will be allowed
to observe and discuss. Finally, this select group of patrons
will be allowed to witness and even participate in the mystic
tradition of "The Hat,"
the writing of a word, phrase or short slogan on a slip of paper
which may be randomly drawn from a hat by the hapless writers,
sealing the fate and topic of their script.
The following evening, the patrons will return to the actual performance,
assured of the freshness and quality impromptu nature of the event
and able to more thoroughly enjoy, analyze and relate the unique
and harrowing experience that is
One Day Only 9!
