From time to time, each of us has been called-upon to "get up and say a few words." The request to do so may evoke both delight and shock as one is handed this "honor." This workshop is geared to those who speak publicly on an occasional or regular basis, to those who are in line for or desire positions where public speaking of some type will be a part of their duties, and to those who just want to feel more confident when addressing a group. Using theatre performance techniques and exercises (breathing, body language, enunciation, and improvisation, monologue or scene work), including gentle but honest feedback from the instructor and workshop participants, this workshop will help prepare you for the on-the-spot request as well as preparing you in advance for your big moment. No experience is necessary. This workshop will culminate with each student having the opportunity to "present themselves" to a gathering of invited guests.

Tuition: $150 - if enrolled before June 1
- $175 after

Registration and payment due 3 days before first class meeting

Uta Hagen is considered not only one of the great actors of the 20th century, but also one of the most respected acting teachers, having taught some of the greats, including Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro. Many actors are familiar with the names Meisner and Stanislavsky as acting teachers who espoused two different schools of acting, yet Uta Hagen's method is another train of thought altogether. Her technique of substitution or "transference" will be explored, as well as understanding how to create a convincing portrayal of a role through the character's "actions." The class will include a low impact, body strengthening warm-up at the beginning of each session, and the six week course will end with a performance showcase.

Tuition: $150 - if enrolled before August 28
- $175 after

Registration and payment due 3 days before first class meeting
A $1 online processing fee will be added. Forward email receipt with completed Registration Form attached.

*All students that have registered for prior classes qualify for a $25 discount. The first class tuition is full price but all subsequent ones qualify for a discount.
